Rider Information

Harmony Farms accepts people of all ages with various disabilities -- physical, mental, emotional, and/or behavioral.  We  have a large number of individual riders, and groups from Brevard County Schools, adult facilities, and programs. Riders range in age from 4 to 87 years old.

The horse becomes the "motivator" to improve movement, muscle tone, verbalization and attention span.  Riding a horse rhythmically moves the rider's body in a manner similar to the human gait, so riders with physical needs often show improvement in flexibility, balance, muscle strength, circulation & breathing.

The program was founded in 1992, to address the need in the local community for alternative programs for rehabilitation and therapy for the disabled.

All riders must have a medical clearance, present a history and a diagnosis from a physician or therapists and we will work closely with all medical professionals to provide the best program for their needs.  We emphasize ability, not disability!

Riding sessions incorporate equitation with games, exercises, and fun!  If riders are physically and mentally able, we are actually teaching them how to steer and control their horse.  Each Spring, we host "Showtime", where our riders get a chance to strut their stuff for friends and family.  As with everything else in our program -- everyone is a winner!

Riding sessions are held on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.  The fee for the 30 minutes riding session is $50.  Our riding season starts in September and runs through May. We do work with Step up for Students for billing.

If you are interested in participating in our program, please email us at  info@harmonyfarmsinc.com.  We will send you a Potential Rider Questionnaire and then arrange an evaluation, which will not involve riding.  Eligibility is dependent upon disability, ability and availability.  We do have a waiting list, but suggest applying now as the list is always moving!

Thank you for your interest in our program.
